A day after Honduras ousted President Manuel Zelaya, he gave an ultimatum to the de facto government to reestablish the democratic order in the country, and called for the uprising of the Honduran people, social organizations and unions called to keep up the struggles in the streets, and occupy “strategic spots” in Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula and other cities. Without much explanation, the de facto regime in Honduras decided to lift the curfew it had imposed on the country since President Manuel Zelaya was ousted on June 28th. Read more

As planned, last Tuesday, US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, met with Honduran President, Manuel Zelaya. The most visible result of this meeting was the confirmation of the US acknowledgement of Zelaya as Hondura´s legitimate president. The US also requested a mediation by Costa Rican President Oscar Arias, between the de facto and the constitutional governments. Read more

“Betrayal to the country” and “usurpation of authority” are two terms used when we think about what is happening nowadays in Honduras. What's surprising is that the media of that country uses those terms when referring to President Manuel Zelaya, instead of using them to define the coup regime, which has tried to take over power by force since Sunday.
