The Permanent Peoples Tribunal (PPT) on transnational corporations and people and community rights in Southern African countries will take place on August 17-18, in Johannesburg, South Africa. It is organized by the Southern Africa Campaign to Dismantle Corporate Power. Several communities of the region will present cases about the impacts of transnational corporations on their livelihoods, territories and human rights. Real World Radio will cover the event through some collaborators in the continent.

The Permanent Peoples Tribunal (PPT) held its sessions on August 17-18 on the issue of transnational corporations and the rights of communities. 200 people participated, including affected communities from Southern Africa, organizers and jurors. Together they committed to strengthen the struggles and expose the atrocities perpetrated by transnational corporations that steal natural resources and violate the rights of the peoples of Southern Africa, states a press release issued by the participants. The 2nd session of the Permanent Peoples Tribunal (PPT) on transnational corporations, organized by the Southern Africa Campaign to Dismantle Corporate Power and held in Johannesburg, South Africa, came to an end on Friday. A third session is scheduled to take place in October in Geneva, Switzerland, towards the elaboration of a Peoples Treaty to deliver to the United Nations. Read more
