From November 30 to December 11 in Paris, the French capital, the UN Climate Change COP 21 will take place. There, negotiators from over 190 countries will try to reach a new global agreement to address climate change. At the same time, and perhaps more strongly than ever in the history of COPs, a French coalition of organizations and social movements, and most diverse groups from many parts of the world, will carry out various activities, protests, marches, and other actions to make the solutions and voices of the people heard.Thousands of activists are expected to arrive in Paris from the most diverse countries in the world. Real World Radio will be there for a special coverage of the two-week UN negotiations and the mobilization of the peoples of the world to demand climate justice.

Environmental federation Friends of the Earth International (FoEI) issued on Monday from Paris, France, a press release where Jagoda Munic, FoEI´s Chair, said that the richest countries are not committed to adopt the necessary measures to prevent irreversible climate change and protect the people from the impacts of this crisis, despite what leaders say at the COP 21. Today, Young Friends of the Earth Europe, together with other climate justice youth groups, organised an action at the UN climate talks in Paris, France, criticising developed countries for their attempts to remove historical responsibility from a potential global agreement. The groups urged developed countries to recognise their role in causing and fueling climate change, and to do their "fair share" in tackling it. Read more

This year’s international climate talks (COP21) in Paris appear to be sponsored by the same perpetrators guilty of hindering real solutions to climate change. The French electricity company, EDF, has been nominated for the Pinocchio Awards under the category ‘greenwashing.’ The company claims their electricity mix is carbon free and they are presenting themselves as ‘the official partner of a low-carbon world.’ Read more
