The participants of the Climate Caravan will be heading to Colombia early this week as part of a Latin American tour ahead of the United Nations 20th Conference of the Parties (COP 20) on Climate Change to be held in December in Peru. The representative of the Environmental Committee of Cabañas Department in El Salvador, Francisco Pineda, coordinator of the Movement of Victims and People Affected by Climate Change and Corporations (MOVIAC) in that country, Jose Santos and CESTA-Friends of the Earth El Salvador´s Chair, Ricardo Navarro were the speakers on Saturday in an activity held in San Isidro municipality, Cabañas. The MOVIAC submitted the presidential candidate for the Frente Farabundo Martí para la Liberación Nacional (FMLN), Salvador Sanchez Ceren, a political proposal that address es, among many other things, the banning of metal mining exploration and exploitation in the country.
