According to the groups which are promoting this action, the recent coup d´ etat in Honduras has proven the “dispute for political and economic power” which is taking place throughout the continent.

In this way, the National Front of Resistance against the Coup d´Etat in Honduras has become a “heroic and exemplary model” of popular struggles for equality, social justice, freedom, democracy, and a better life quality, according to them.

“The coup d´etat perpetrated in Honduras on June 28th, the repression suffered by Honduran organizations and the population, and the destruction of the constitutional order have forced us, as Mesoamerican social movements, to reflect upon the advance of retrograde forces and the urgent need to reorganize ourselves in the popular struggle of the region”, reads the call to action.

Bloque Popular from Honduras, Red de Control Ciudadano from Nicaragua, Red Sinti Techan from El Salvador, Coordinadora Nacional Sindical y Popular from Guatemala, the Mexican Alliance for the Self-determination of Peoples, the Nicaraguan Social Movement “Otro mundo es posible”, and the National Front for the Defense of Social-Economic Rights from Panama will participate in the workshops and mobilizations.

The Hemispheric Social Alliance Central America, Grito de los Excluidos Mesoamerica and Jubilee South Central America are among the organizers.
