In the context of the international campaign against land grabbing, Real World Radio offers this special section including testimonies of the resistance and the effects of this global process that goes against the rights of communities and the sovereignty of the countries.
This section will have the support of Grain through www.farmlandgrab.org, which includes interviews and reports about the global push for buying or renting crop lands in foreign countries as a strategy to ensure the supply of basic food or just as a way to make money.

The National Agrarian Summit held in Bogota, Colombia ended after two days of debates and of reaching inter-ethnic and inter-sectoral agreements. A few weeks after the Curuguaty massacre where 11 peasants and 6 police officers were killed, the peasants arrested and charged for these events decided to go on a hunger strike. The peasants who were blamed for the murders (of their own friends and relatives) adopted the measure to demand that the pregnant women who were arrested were given house arrest and that Judge José Dolores Benitez and Public Attorney Jalil Rachid were removed from the case due to “breach of public duties and manifest partiality”.
