The Global Campaign to Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity had a strong presence in Geneva, Switzerland, during the negotiations of the UN Working Group on transnational corporations and human rights.

From July 6 to 10, the Global Campaign carried out advocacy work inside the Palais des Nations, the UN headquarters where the first round of negotiations towards a binding treaty for corporations to respect human rights took place. But also, social movements and organizations that are part of the Global Campaign set up a tent outside the building where the negotiations were taking place to carry out parallel activities, actions, demonstrations and reach the Swiss population in general.

“Having the tent outside is a clear example of how we´ve been successful having a presence outside”, said activist Diana Aguiar of the Global Campaign to Dismantle Corporate Power and End Impunity in an interview with Real World Radio.

In an interview conducted after the end of the official negotiations and the parallel activities, Aguiar said from inside the Palais des Nations: “We want a binding treaty to stop corporate impunity, but above all to dismantle the power of transnational corporations”.

Below you can find a short video of the interview, produced by Victor Barro of Friends of the Earth Spain – Friends of the Earth International.
