Social leader and Honduras vicepresidential candidate Juan Barahona explained to La Radio del Sur the reasons why Partido Libertad y Refundacion (Libre) challenged the elections results submitted by the Honduras Electoral Court on November 24th.

Barahona said Presidential candidate Xiomara Castro requested the election records to be reviewed. However, the party does not expect the court to change the results. “We are sure that the Electoral Court will not rectify the results submitted on Sunday, 24 November, as it failed to do so during the coup d’état”.

He explained some of the strategies of the ruling party and its allies to carry out election fraud and take the victory from Castro. “There was a request to have 200 experts supervise the verification of the records before Friday, in order to get information to buy the records of the Party and the falsified records the Electoral Court has”.

Besides, the social leader denounced the militarization in Honduras to crackdown the popular demonstrations, which intensifies the already existing crisis in the country after the 2009 coup.

On Monday, Partido LIBRE submitted evidence confirming irregularities took place on November 24 during the presidential election, including problems in the system design and the algorithms applied, besides falsification of records.

The organization also denounced that they verified that the votes in several polling stations outnumbered the voters.
