The “Democracy For Sale awards: The hidden powers co-writing TTIP” (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) will be launched this Thursday. The awards denounce the lobby of powerful business groups in the negotiations of this commercial treaty between the US and the European Union. In fact, it is a Worst Lobby Award focusing on the TTIP.

A website will be launched on Wednesday to promote the Awards, their goals, categories and nominees. The organizations behind the initiative include Corporate Europe Observatory, Friends of the Earth Europe, Lobby Control and WeMove.EU.

To know more about the initiative, Real World Radio interviewed activist Fabian Flues, trade campaigner at Friends of the Earth Europe. Fabian especially made reference to two of the categories of the Awards: Chemicals Lobby and Pesticides Lobby.
