In this section Real World Radio aims to expose the murders of social activists and the cases of death threats against leaders. We will report on the wave of criminalization of the social protest. This new section of Real World Radio is also a memorial page for all those who were murdered in their struggle for a socially just world.

Erich Pica, Chair of Friends of the Earth US, rejected on Tuesday Donald Trump´s decision to restart the Dakota Access pipeline, already under construction, but suspended by the previous administration led by Barack Obama. As stated in the call to the Workshop, the reflections, analyzes and proposals around the articulation needed to face the changing rhythms of international politics gave way to multiple projections and perspectives. A judge ruled today to release five activists who had been arrested on Friday in Luhuso, French Basque Country, and charged with “terrorism” when they were trying to start the process for the disarmament of ETA (Euskadi Ta Askatasuna, “Basque Country and Freedom”), in which neither the Spanish nor the French governments have made much progress. Txetx Etcheverry (co-founder of Bizi, Alternatiba and ANV-COP21), Michel Berhocoirigoin (co-founder and former president of EHLG, the alternative chamber of agriculture of Basque Country), Michel Bergouignan (wine producer of the Basque label Irouléguy), Béatrice Haran-Molle (journalist), and Stéphane Etchegaray, also know as Etxe (audovisual producer in charge of filming destruction of arms by protagonists), have been arrested by police on Friday 16th December in Louhossoa (Basque Country) while trying to neutralize weapons belonging to ETA with the intention of handing them over to authorities. In April 2015, the Supreme Court of Nepal directed the government to shut down the controversial Godawari Marbles Factory, located in the Lalitpur district, in a move to protect the environment and biodiversity. The justices stated that the factory’s operations, including quarrying and extraction works, caused adverse impacts on the local environment and threatened the existence of globally important flora and fauna. This Monday, Real World Radio (RWR) presented a short video summarizing the work carried out by the radio in 2015 and 2016 at the Biennial General Assembly of Friends of the Earth International (FoEI, the federation to which the radio belongs), which is taking place in South Lampung Regency, Indonesia.
