On March 29, 2017, the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador passed a historic law through which it bans, with a retroactive effect, the extraction of precious metals in its territory. The decision is the result of two decades of struggle by the communities and has left many martyrs, especially in Bajo Lempa and Cabañas Department. Real World Radio offers these materials with the intention to value and raise the voices of the communities that managed to beat the strong mining lobby and its expressions of blackmail and territorial violence.
