Robert Fidrich works on the GMO and Agrofuels campaign and on extractive industries at Friends of the Earth Hungary.
In an interview with Real World Radio, Fidrich explained that his work is focused on the problems of land tenure, which have increased since Hungary joined the European Union (EU) seven years ago. If the land market is open – there is currently a moratorium that will expire in 2011- that country would not be able to compete, since the price of land is lower than in the other countries of the bloc. Besides this, the Hungarians have lower incomes compared with the citizens of the rest of the EU countries.
