US company Monsanto is one of the main suppliers of toxic products for the fumigation of coca plantations in Colombia.
This is causing negative impacts on peasant and afro-descendant communities, according to Jose Goyes, member of the Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca, one of the participants in the parallel activities to the 7th Ministerial of the WTO which is taking place in Geneva.
Goyes also critized conservationist organization WWF, because with their activities they are trying to cover the impacts suffered by the people.
“These organizations greenwash transnational corporations, saying that these help people. This is a lie, because on one areas they murder, and on others they invest. We are completely against it”, concluded Goyes.
