Peruvian leader Benito Calixto Guzman represents the Andean Coordination of Indigenous Organizations (CAOI) and the National Confederation of Peruvian Communities Affected by Mininig (Conacami).
He participated in the parallel activities to the 7th WTO Ministerial Conference held from November 30 through December 2nd in Geneva, Switzerland, to expose the impacts that extractive industries are having in the whole Andean region.

Real World Radio interviewed the Peruvian indigenous leader, who said that his country’s government could grant mining licenses of up to a thousand hectares of land, but the law was changed to grant 20,000 hectares of land instead to private capitals, most of them transnational corporations.
