In the context of the international campaign against land grabbing, Real World Radio offers this special section including testimonies of the resistance and the effects of this global process that goes against the rights of communities and the sovereignty of the countries.
This section will have the support of Grain through www.farmlandgrab.org, which includes interviews and reports about the global push for buying or renting crop lands in foreign countries as a strategy to ensure the supply of basic food or just as a way to make money.

10 days before the 20th anniversary of El Dorado dos Carajas massacre in Brazil, where 19 landless peasants of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) were murdered, this movement has to mourn again the death of two of its members, who were shot by the Military Police and private security guards of a timber company. On Thursday, April 7, two peasants of Dom Tomas Balduino settlement, in Quedas de Iguacu city, Parana State, were suddenly attacked with firearms, and four other people were injured. Read more

The situation in Honduras is of complete alert. The outrageous and still unpunished murder of Berta Cáceres seems to have intensified the violence and persecution against social activists, indigenous people and peasants in a country whose people continues to be under attack since the Coup d´Etat of 2009. Yesterday, after a violent eviction in Rio Chiquito municipality, Cortés department, the member of the Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH) Nelson García was shot and murdered when returning to the place where he was staying.
