This morning, 10 civil and military São Paulo police vehicles raided the Florestan Fernandes National School (ENFF) of the Landless Rural Workers Movement of Brazil (MST) in Guararema municipality.
The police officers blocked the entrance to the school and jumped the front desk shooting at the air. The activists who picked up the bullet shells saw that none of them were rubber bullets, but lethal ones.
At this time, the police continues outside the ENFF, supposedly waiting for a detention order.
The MST demands the government to take the necessary measures in this case. “We are a movement that struggles for the democratization of the access to land in this country, not a criminal organization”, according to a statement issued by the movement.
This action is not an isolated event. In Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul states, the Civil Police is implementing arrest warrants against MST activists.
