The Global Campaign to Dismantle Corporate Power and Impunity organized last May 30th a Public Session at the European Parliament, available in video below.
The activity “How to hold TNCs responsible for Human Rights violations” was held at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium.
The session was organized by the Global Campaign to Dismantle Corporate Power and a delegation of the Podemos party of Spain, with one of its representatives, Miguel Urbán, acting as chair and facilitator.
The speakers included: Erika González (OMAL Spain), Charles Santiago (Malaysia MP), Themba Chauke (La Via Campesina South Africa), Tchenna Maso (MAB Brazil), Pascoe Sabido of the Corporate Europe Observatory, Manoela Roland (Friends of the Earth Nigeria), Brid Brennan, Mónica Vargas and Gonzalo Berrón of the Trasnational Institute of The Netherlands and Mateus Santos (La Via Campesina Mozambique).
An Experts´ Meeting also took place in this context, with the participation of legal experts and lawyers, as well as several members of organizations and networks of the Global Campaign which works for a binding treaty on transnational corporations and human rights at the UN.
