Interview with Nelson Navarro: teacher of rural teachers of Puerto Mont, South of Chile, at ANAMURI´s Seminar

Download: MP3 (1.2 Mb)

Rural education has been Nelson Navarro´s vocation for his entire life, and through it, he was able to get closer to the peasant movement, recovering the traditional ancestral knowledge of Chilean rural communities.

He participated in the Rural Education, Agroecology and Peoples of the Countryside seminar, organized by the National Association of Rural and Indigenous Women of Chile, in the capital of the country and was interviewed by Real World Radio about his life as a teacher.

He is also a communicator and worked for community radios of rural areas and gathered testimonies of the Chilean countryside as a way to integrate children into the communication of their own learning and love for life in the countryside and food production.

"I always thought of myself as another student, our communication is circular", said Nelson, sharing his educational experience with the over 50 participants at the Seminar.
He believes that this international space represents "important signs that I hope are listened by formal education institutions in Chile".
