“We have to stay focused on the message we want to send which is the message of climate justice”, said environmental activist Malika Peyraut of Friends of the Earth France in an interview with Real World Radio on Monday, after the demonstration that yesterday brought together 10000 people in a “human chain” in Paris.
“We will keep mobilizing, peacefully, non violently, but we will still be on the streets”, she added, and said that in addition to the state of emergency declared by the French government ““there is a climate state of emergency too”.
The activist said that Friends of the Earth France´s goal in these two weeks of activities in parallel to the UN COP on Climate Change is to make the voices of the people affected by this crisis heard, as well as to carry out actions to denounce the main culprits, such as big transnational corporations, and especially the French government ““which is not really acting against climate change”.
Peyraut said that the idea is to show that the climate justice movement is strong and called the international community to mobilize in Paris.
