Friends of the Earth International and Friends of the Earth Europe are calling for an urgent “energy revolution” that is considered key to combating climate change at world level and to address the needs of the people who don´t have access to energy, a fundamental right for a dignified life.
Decentralized and community-led energy that ensures its supply is based on renewable sources are some of the basis promoted by Friends of the Earth when discussing their “community power” policy demand.
On June 11, a few hours after the end of a new round of UN negotiations on climate change in Bonn, Germany, dozens of activists from several Friends of the Earth groups demonstrated to demand an “energy revolution” outside the building where the negotiations were taking place.
