On June 10, the European Parliament decided in Strasbourg, France, to postpone the discussion and voting about a resolution related to the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreement (TTIP) which is under negotiation between Europe and the US behind closed doors.

There are several aspects that cause discrepancies between the members of the European Parliament, among them, the establishment of an arbitration system for the settlement of investment disputes between investors and States. The civil society argues that there are aspects related to social and labor rights, in addition to environmental issues, that are also dividing the Parliament.

Real World Radio interviewed an expert on this issue, activist Natacha Cingotti, trade campaigner at Friends of the Earth Europe, to know more about how the organization assessed what happened last week in Strasbourg, what will happen in the future and how this trade agreement will continue to be exposed.
