A violent eviction took place today, May 20th, in Guajayvi, San Pedro department, Paraguay, by public security forces, armed civilians and thugs hired by Brazilian soy producers. The action was carried out against 150 families established in the 15 de junio campsite for the past 8 years.
In an interview with Real World Radio, Gerardo Bogado, of Liga Nacional de Carperos, said that as we speak there are around 500 people living out in the open after running away from the sudden attack. High-caliber guns and helicopters were used in the operation that destroyed the community school and church, in addition to the crops of the people.
According to Gerardo, the communities will file a complaint to the House of Representatives
